GrowUp.org is an attempt to provide a forum for discussing (as reasonable adults, rather than spoiled children) the crucial problems facing us all as Americans and supporting in a non-partisan way those who can make a positive difference.
So the goals of GrowUp.org are to:
Educate the vast number of politically indifferent/undecided/independent Americans in the middle (and hopefully some of the reasonable on the fringes) on the specific issues and policy choices facing us
Foster debate of the various alternatives (and the resulting tradeoffs) in a mature, logical, and most importantly, productive fashion
Support those of any political affiliation who can shed light on the available (and preferable) alternatives
The bottom line is that grown ups understand that there are many different solutions to any problem (most that don't involve government spending or regulating). So the underlying goal of this site is to at least provide clarity (more than agreement) on these choices. While we struggle to find where larger government is the most efficient/effective solution to any of our problems, we welcome the opportunity to hear from those of you who do - Grown ups (like real scientists) will follow the evidence where it takes them.
Politics should not be the main thing, at least not in a free society. The fallacy that puts government, not the people, at the center and politicizes everything is the essence of leftist ideology. And unfortunately, all too common today.
Grown ups that honestly pursue their rights to life, liberty, and happiness must be ever vigilant. That's why GrowUp.org is here.
History
GrowUp.org was conceived during the 2004 election in response to the continued, and increasingly childish, arguments of many on the left (and some on the right). Who, rather than dealing honestly with the issues, respond like angry children trying to win an argument by yelling the loudest. They continue to present the one side of the story that supports their preconceived position and, despite claiming to rational and scientific, refuse to consider all the evidence.
As a real (what would now be considered classical) liberal, the founder had long since departed the patronizing and paternalistic (or if you prefer, maternalistic) Democratic party of his youth, yet still values those ideals (but grounded in reality, not fantasy). Maybe it was the finance and economics education or the experience in business, or maybe it was starting a family
But it was much easier to dismiss those so dedicated to such a dirty pursuit as politics. Until September of 2001, politics was an annoyance and freedom seemed like a given. That obviously changed upon the realization that while the former is true, the latter is not - we must sacrifice if we are to keep our country.
GrowUp.org was finally formed and launched in 2008 as a political education organization as defined under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Service Code, specifically dedicated to the ideal that grown up attitudes and discourse on politics are required, yet lacking more than ever.

So if you are sick of childish whining getting in the way of solving the critical (and very difficult) problems facing our great nation, then please consider supporting GrowUp.org.
Sign up for our email newsletter, and we'll send periodic updates with our take on the issues and policy decisions that impact us all. Samples of our newsletter and other writings are here.
And please spread the word to your grown up friends of whatever party affiliation - we really need more growing up and less moving on!
We would really love to have your input on the issues and policies that divide us. It's perfectly fine (and expected) to have disagreements, but it is incredibly important to know why we are disagreeing. That's the point of this site, and we have a lot of work to do.
Please share your knowledge by sending your thoughts on the issues, policies, and projects to the email addresses at right. Please include the category that you are addressing, if you're coming from the left or the right, and if you want attribution for your thoughts should they be published.
The idea is to properly define the issue/policy, give the range of options, and highlight the differences between the sides to help us all be more knowledgeable about the key political decisions we need to make.
GrowUp.org would obviously love to have your financial support in our efforts to educate America on the tradeoffs we all face. It is too easy to advocate (or legislate) a solution for every problem without having some perspective or considering the tradeoffs. Grown ups are needed to restore some sanity to our political decisions, and that starts with each of us learning more about the true choices we face (and, incidentally, being thankful that we're free to face them)!
So help us put your money where our mouths are and support getting the word out on the importance of growing up. With your contributions, we can make a difference to raise some of the political "children" desperately in need of our help! And certainly wake up some of the heretofore indifferent grown ups amongst us.
As a non-profit 501(c)(4) organization, your donations to GrowUp.org are not tax-deductible. But unlike taxes, your choice in supporting us is very much appreciated - contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations are welcome, but GrowUp.org does not accept government grants. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Thanks again for all of your support and encouragement! And please feel free to contact us at any time.
May God (if there is one, and he's willing) continue to bless America, and vice versa.
