Why should government be the sole provider of education? While you're allowed to pay for education outside the public system, you still have to pay for both. While in theory the public good is served by higher levels of education (it is of course dependent on what is being taught), you could make that argument for a number of other things that government has not taken over. Once the realm of private groups and families, why has education been taken over by the state and why wouldn't the resulting lack of educational choice be a problem?
